Chris Calato – Principal
Chris has thirteen years of real estate and finance experience. His experience includes acquisitions, development, investment banking and investment management; with acquisition officer responsibility for approximately $600 million in investment across asset classes and in multiple U.S. markets. Prior to partnering with Mike Ecklund and Christian Chamberlain in 2008, Chris was an Associate at The Lionstone Group, a Houston based private equity firm that focuses on urban real estate investments. While at Lionstone, Chris sourced and had direct responsibility for over $350 million in acquisitions and development in Houston and Dallas. Prior to Lionstone, Chris worked as an Associate at MetroNational, a privately owned Houston based developer, where his responsibilities included analyzing various acquisitions and new developments. From 2001-2003 Chris worked as an Analyst at Jefferies & Company in its Energy Investment Banking Group. At Jefferies, Chris worked on over $650 million in public and private capital markets transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Chris received a BBA in Finance at the University of Texas at Austin.
Christian Chamberlain – Principal
Christian has fifteen years of real estate investment experience. His experience includes structuring joint-ventures, acquisitions, development and investment management; with acquisition officer responsibility for $1.3 billion in investment across all asset classes and in multiple U.S. markets. Prior to partnering with Chris Calato and Mike Ecklund, Christian worked for J.P. Morgan, Crescent Real Estate Equities and Transworld Properties. From 2005 through 2008 Christian served as Vice President with J.P. Morgan Investment Management, and provided acquisition officer duties for sixteen discretionary funds. From 2000 through 2003 Christian served as Senior Investment Manager with Crescent Real Estate Equities. While at Crescent, his responsibilities encompassed acquisitions, development, and investment management of Crescent’s $1.0 billion joint-venture office portfolio. From 1997 through 2000 Christian served as an Associate with Transworld Properties, where he contributed to the evaluation and structuring of equity investments in office, industrial, and multi-family development projects for the $250 million private equity fund. Christian earned a BBA Finance degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his MBA from Rice University.
Mike Ecklund, CPA – Principal
Mike has fifteen years of real estate and finance experience. His experience includes structuring joint-ventures, acquisitions, development, accounting and investment management; with acquisition officer responsibility for approximately $800 million in investment across asset classes and in multiple U.S. markets. Prior to partnering with Chris Calato and Christian Chamberlain in 2008, Mike was a Senior Associate at The Lionstone Group, a Houston based private equity fund that focuses on urban real estate investments. While at Lionstone, Mike worked on $400 million of urban real estate acquisition and development projects and led the acquisition efforts in the Denver and Atlanta markets. Prior to Lionstone, Mike spent six years at Hines, a Houston-based international real estate developer. While at Hines, Mike worked on numerous development projects that spanned multiple product types and locations. Mike received a degree in Managerial Studies from Rice University and a Masters degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. Mike currently sits on the Board of the Leonard Wood Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
